Needle Insertion: Once the lesion is identified, a fine needle is passed through the endoscope and into the pancreas. The needle is guided by the ultrasound imaging.
Sample Collection: The needle is used to aspirate a small tissue sample from the pancreatic lesion. Multiple samples may be collected if needed.
Withdrawal and Removal: The needle and endoscope are withdrawn.
Tissue Handling: The collected tissue samples are sent to a pathology laboratory for analysis by a pathologist.
Recovery: After the procedure, the patient is monitored in a recovery area until the sedation or anesthesia wears off.
